Founders & Directors

The founding team that sets the direction, holds the culture, and takes responsibility for every engagement MTMG delivers.

About This Section

MTMG's leadership team founded the firm on the belief that technology advisory should be independent, honest, and genuinely on the client's side. This page introduces the five leaders who set that standard — and hold it every day across the US, UK, and Ireland.

About Paul

Paul Knittle is the Founder and CEO of MTMG, an independent technology advisory firm specialising in fractional leadership, growth strategy, cybersecurity, and technology sourcing across the US, UK, and Ireland.

Paul Knittle

Founder & CEO

● North ● South ● East ● West

Paul has spent 30 years building the kind of trust that only comes from consistently putting clients first. He founded MTMG on a simple belief — that technology leadership should be guided by independence, not incentive. A natural consensus builder with deep experience across sales, strategy, and transatlantic partnerships, Paul works to ensure that every client engagement starts with the right question rather than a predetermined answer.

Paul is also the architect of MTMG's Growth Engine — the firm's go-to-market framework that helps clients, MSP partners, and vendors build sustainable revenue relationships without the pressure of vendor-driven agendas. He built MTMG to be the firm he always wished existed — experienced, honest, and genuinely on your side.

Joe McGuire

● North ● South ● East

Joe brings over 25 years of experience building the kind of client and partner relationships that actually last. As Co-founder of MTMG, he helped shape a firm built on a straightforward conviction — that the best outcomes happen when advisors sit on the same side of the table as the people they serve. As CRO and CSO, he leads both the revenue strategy and client solutions work, ensuring every engagement is designed around what the client actually needs.

Joe has particular depth in public sector technology leadership, partner ecosystems, IoT, and mobility — and a rare ability to translate complex technical decisions into language that helps leaders move forward with clarity and confidence rather than anxiety.

Fun Fact

Joe is the serving Mayor of the Borough of Northvale, New Jersey. When he talks about the pressure technology leaders face when systems fail their communities, he is speaking from experience — on both sides of that conversation.

About Tara

Tara Nelson is Co-founder and Managing Director of MTMG, and the creator of In Good Company — a community and events programme connecting technology leaders, partners, and organisations who believe that good business is built on trusted relationships.

Tara Nelson

Co-founder & Managing Director

● North ● South

Tara co-founded MTMG because she understood something that pure technology firms often miss — that the strongest ecosystems are built on community, trust, and shared values, not just technical capability. As Managing Director, she holds the connective tissue of the firm together, overseeing operations, culture, and the partnerships that make MTMG's work possible.

Tara brings an unusually broad range of experience to the role — spanning non-profit leadership, event production, theatre, marketing, and sustainability — and applies it with a systems thinker' eye. Her background is not a departure from technology leadership — it is what makes her approach to it distinctive.

Tara is the force behind In Good Company, MTMG's community events programme — designed to bring technology leaders, partners, and changemakers together in spaces that feel nothing like a typical industry conference.

In Good Company

Tara created and leads In Good Company — MTMG's community events programme bringing together technology leaders, partners, and organisations who share a commitment to thoughtful, values-led collaboration. If you are interested in attending or partnering on an upcoming event, Tara would love to hear from you.

Rosie Rewired

Tara is a driving force behind Rosie Rewired — an MTMG-affiliated podcast and community platform amplifying the voices of women in technology. It is one of the clearest expressions of what Tara believes: that a stronger industry is built by making sure more people have a seat at the table.

About Hannah

Hannah Knittle is Director of Data Systems & Enablement at MTMG, responsible for the firm's CRM, email systems, and strategic data infrastructure — bringing a rare combination of metadata analysis expertise and a Master's in Psychology to the work of turning data into decisions.

Hannah Knittle

Director of Data Systems & Enablement

● North ● East

Hannah sits at an intersection that most data professionals never occupy — where rigorous systems thinking meets a deep understanding of human behaviour. As Director of Data Systems & Enablement at MTMG, she oversees the firm's CRM architecture, email strategy, and the broader data infrastructure that keeps the ecosystem running with clarity and precision. She does not just manage data — she makes it meaningful.

Her academic background is genuinely distinctive. A Master's in Psychology with a subspecialty in metadata analysis gives Hannah a lens that most data specialists do not have — an understanding of why people interact with systems the way they do, and how to design data environments that reflect that reality rather than fight against it.

Hannah believes that complexity is usually a symptom, not a condition — and that the right data strategy, clearly implemented, removes friction, reduces risk, and gives leaders the clarity they need to move forward with confidence.

Data Systems & CRM

Hannah manages MTMG's CRM and email infrastructure — ensuring the firm's client and partner relationships are supported by clean, well-structured data systems that enable smarter decisions at every level. If your organisation is navigating a data governance or CRM challenge, Hannah brings both the technical and human side of that conversation.
